CAD U1 USB Dynamic Recording Microphone

The CAD U1 USB Recording Microphone makes recording vocals or instruments to your computer a plug and play operation. This dynamic microphone features a cardioid pick-up pattern and a smooth, extended frequency response. A built-in popfilter takes care of those annoying P-popping sounds. Perfect for podcasting, the U1 also includes an on/off switch, 10 foot USB cable and a desktop microphone stand.

1 Star Don’t let the advertising lure you in
This microphone was able to record my voice, like it said it would- everything else was utter lies. It DID NOT filter any popping (actually, it seemed to amplify it). It didn’t record clearly, and there was an obscene static noise throughout whenever I was recording with it. I tweaked its settings endlessly, to no avail. It just would not perform as expected. So overall, it didn’t do a lot of the things I bought it for. My built-in Mac microphone (which is amateur at best) is far superior to this microphone, and I will continue to use it until I am promised something that actually delivers.
2 Stars Steer clear!
When I plug this microphone into my computer, it becomes the default device for both input AND OUTPUT, meaning that there is a static hum whenever the microphone is in use. Even when I changed the settings, the hum remained! Upon listening to a recording, I heard a radio station playing that I must have picked up! I don;t know how that happened, but if anyone else has experienced any of these problems, please let me know, so I can make sure that if I received a malfunctioning device or not.
1 Star too much hum and buzz
The microphone that I purchased has quite a lot of hum and buzz; enough to make it completely unusable. No amount of fiddling with the audio mixer input setting would get rid of the problem.
My advice to anyone interested in purchasing this product is “get aquainted with the return policy just in case your mic is defective”.

deals are great. and this is a deal, but not a very good one. you will thank yourself later by not getting this; life will go on without a dynamic recording microphone. i am sure there are some people who might find this microphone to be exactly what they are looking for; it was not what i was looking for.
someone does care. do with this review what you will.
5 Stars Great, low-priced native-USB microphone.
I love and usually use the Rode Podcaster (Rode Microphones Podcaster USB Microphone), but I wanted something lighter and cheaper to carry around. Something cheap enough that I wouldn’t be too upset if I dropped it or something.
I bought this mic despite the mixed reviews, and I’m glad I did. It sounds great. I haven’t had any of the humming or buzzing reported by others, but I have picked up radio broadcasts while doing a test recording at work. I suspect that the other reviewers may have been experiencing interference or a bad cable rather than a bad mic.
Despite the cheap price, I’ve actually gotten compliments while using this mic on Skype. It comes with a decent desktop stand, has an on/off switch, and is native USB. For the price, it’s really great. (I’m used to spending around $200 and up on a good mic.)

This post really gives good idea on mic. Using mic on skype is easy and we feel free .
