Introducing: the Samson G Track USB mic and audio interface – in one!

The Samson G Track is one of the coolest devices I’ve seen in a while. There are a bunch of USB mics on the market, all of which provide a convenient way to record straight into the computer. But the Samson G Track does one better – you can connect additional instruments right into the mic itself. I think that’s pretty cool, and here’s why…

What makes the Samson G Track awesome?

When it comes to making music, it’s a little like sex. Once you get “in the mood” you don’t want to be fumbling around with “extra equipment” You just want to get down to business without anything getting in the way. Well the Samson G Track lets you do just that. You plug the mic in via USB, then connect any other instrument into the G Track. No other gear to deal with.

The Samson G Track as a master volume which controls the mic itself and the instrument. There are also independent volume controls for the mic and instrument as well so you can properly blend the two signals together.

Now let’s be honest here. The Samson G Track is no $3,000 microphone. You are getting a condenser mic with a built-in audio interface for under $150. There’s no doubt it’s a great value, but if you own other very expensive microphone and you have “golden ears” then don’t expect the G Track to sound like your U87

The Samson G Track is best used for recording demos, home recordings, and voiceovers.

If you need a solid, super convenient USB condenser mic to use with your computer – and you don’t want to deal with extra equipment – then click here to get your Samson G Track!

Here’s Amazon’s take:

Samson G Track USB Microphone and Audio Interface

The G-Track is a total solution capable of taking you from your musical inspiration to your finished tracks. It is the world’s first USB condenser microphone with a built-in audio interface and mixer, allowing simultaneous input of vocals and guitar, bass, or keyboard while also providing monitoring through an on board headphone output. Record vocals like a standard USB microphone or two mono instruments through the line/instrument input or a mix of one mono instrument and vocal. Now you can directly record vocals and instruments easily with one device, making the G-Track a must have for any songwriter’s home studio. Its ease of use and portability allows you to take it anywhere inspiration may strike you. The G-Track includes a desktop microphone stand, swivel stand mount, USB cable and all the cables needed to connect any musical instrument with a standard 1/4-inch or RCA output. Cakewalk’s Sonar LE is also included while the G-Track works brilliantly with Apple’s GarageBand.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars GREAT for laptop recording solution
This will be a nice semi-quick review with a little more technical perspective than a lot of the previous ones. I’m a big home recording nut, who’s been on the road a lot the last year, mostly recording with my laptop, this mic, and a full version of Sonar.

First off, the audio quality:

Pretty decent. No noticeable glitches while using. Does sound a little tinny at times, but it’s definitely on par with most of my other $100+ mikes (my most expensive one is a $200 Rode). Very usable for recording vocals (singing), but I haven’t tried it with an acoustic guitar or other acoustic instruments. VERY-usable-plus for recording spoken words. Frequency range seems decent, but again, I haven’t really ran the thing through a full range of applications.

Build quality:

Nice and solid. Almost too heavy though for easy lugging on small trips…but I keep it in the manufacturer’s box and slide it in my suitcase, and so far it has made every trip just fine.

Ease of use:

Big plus here, despite a stable Windows OS possibly being as much responsible for the super simple use of the thing as the mic itself. Plug it in via USB, and you’re ready to go. No special driver install or software required to get it working.

Extras:

- Line in and headphone out are constructed directly on the mic…this lets you use the mic as a line-in for recording an electronic keyboard or electric guitar directly into your recording software. And then you can use the microphone part of it to record vocals or any acoustic instruments. Nice double-feature to have in the same piece of hardware

- Comes with a very usable desk mic stand

- Comes with all the necessary cables to use right away

- Comes with some scaled-down Cakewalk recording software for your computer

I expected the sound quality would be usable and it is, but I admit the all-in-one extras and the acceptable price were what ultimately snagged me and prompted the one-click order.

Final thoughts:

If you’re only doing podcasting (no music or instrument input required), you might consider a lower priced USB mic without the extras. BUT, if you’re doing music with the thing, the line-in and line-out features and easy direct monitoring are way nice and worth the price.

5 Stars Awesome for me and my band
I got this for our band practice so we can review our parts. We play mostly rock & hard core so it can get pretty loud. The mic handled everything pretty well after setting the levels. Granted it wasn’t crystal clear as in a recording studio, but for practices and hashing out sections, it’s served us perfectly. I use Audacity to record. I think my next purchase would be the shockmount.

4 Stars Samson G Track USB Mic
The Samson G Track USB Mic is a well built mic that offers many options. The mic offers the ability to record vocally or through line inputs. It also offers a nice headphone input. Each input offers individual volume controls. It sounds great and works flawlessly with Mac products and Garageband. The software that comes with the mic is not usable by the Mac society. Overall, I think this is an excellent purchase for someone interested in podcasting and demo recording. It is certainly not the highest quality mic, however you end up getting a pretty decent mic for the money.

4 Stars Great microphone
I bought this to improve the quality of the audio voice-overs I do for eLearning classes. It does the job very well and produces professional sounding audio.

4 Stars Good Quality… Bad Software
The microphone has great record sound quality. The line in feature is great for recording my Taylor and my friends Fender, picking up every sound and showing how awful we really are at playing. The mics profile is good, picking up all sounds in front of the mic and none to the side, something like a super cancoid profile. We were able to record both of us playing in space, even picking up the birds chirping.

The problem I have with the package is the included software. It comes with Sonar 6 LE. I could not get this software to work properly, even after installing the ASIO drivers that the forums suggested on my HP laptop. I did not go to the manufacturer to solve my problem but I did go to the forums. What resulted from that was several unhelpful posts and one user bragging about his tutorial over other Samson mics. So using those forums, nothing was solved. I did however find a program that worked out of box for the mic named Acuostica Mixcraft. The program is very similar to Garage Band. Its easy to use and did not require any fumbling around to get started. The interface is simple and not cluttered feeling, which is how Sonar 6 LE feels, even as a LE version. Mixcraft will set you back 65 dollars to purchase but I think it is well worth it.

All in all the Samson G-Track is a great buy for someone who does not want to mess with the complexities of buying a separate sound card and several microphones. I recommend it.

It’s by far the best vocal condenser mic in it’s price range, and this anniversary edition includes the shock mount, a good pop filter, and a 20 foot mic cable. You honestly can’t beat that. When I bought the NT1A a few years ago, I had to buy all those items separately, and they add up quickly. I paid around $50 for the pop filter alone.

The Rode NT1A Sounds Awesome!

…especially compared to other condenser mics around the same price. Most sound harsh, cold, brittle, etc. But the Rode NT1A has a nice smooth top end, and a good amount of low end as well. It works especially well on vocals and midrange instruments like acoustic guitar and piano. You won’t be disappointed by this mic.

The Mic I’ve Been Looking For

…I’d heard a lot of positive hype about the Rode NT1A and claims of it being the “quietest mic in the market”. I was very much surprised by the low-cost and comparisons to microphones in a much higher price range, so I picked one up figuring that if it didn’t live up to the claims, I’d return it and buy a more expensive mic.

I didn’t return it. And I don’t ever see myself selling it either.

Quite simply, this mic is amazing. Read the rest…

My favorite application for this mic is in a 2-microphone setup while recording drums. Unless you’re recording metal or another genre where you’ll be slicing up the drums and you need total separation, this method will give you great results. It’s called the recorderman drum mic technique.

Here’s a good video teaching you exactly how to do it:

The best part about this technique is that it ensures that the two overhead drum mics are in phase with each other – a common problem when using overhead mics.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great mic
I purchsed the Go-Mic to record songs and it does a great job. Besides the quality I like the small size and sturdy composition. The carrying case is perfect…fits so well in my laptop case. Go-Mic is well named.

4 Stars Strong competitor to Blue’s Snowflake
Having misplaced my Blue Snowflake USB mic, I decided to give this recently introduced, competitively priced USB mic from Samson a try. (Samson is maker of the highly popular and effective Zoom personal digital recorders–the H2 and the H4n.) It’s an attractive, fully outfitted piece of equipment, with handsome packaging (a small black box and zippered carrying case with aesthetics apparently inspired by iPod). It’s smaller and lighter than the Snowflake–more diminutive than the picture would suggest. Yet the audio quality strikes me as being somewhat warmer and richer, favoring the bass frequencies of spoken narration more than the Snowflake, which has slightly cleaner and clearer definition at the treble end.

The Samson Go was seen instantly by my iMac, and recording was as advertised: “Plug n’ Play.” The mic is somewhat more sophisticated than the Snowflake in terms of “latency” settings (it permits direct monitoring via headphones connected to the mic to insure no delay, or lag time, between transmission and reception), and there’s a three-way switch for directional patterns (the manual could be clearer, however, about the difference between “cardioid” and “cardioid 10 pad.”) No matter. The mic performed virtually flawlessly right out of the box, with no tampering with the switch.

It’s extremely sensitive, slightly more so than the Snowflake. Yet I was unable to avoid the “P” popping sounds, regardless of how close I got to the mic and muted my consonants. So be prepared for the addition of some sort of “pop filter” device (either one sold on Amazon or a self-designed one, using a nylon stocking).

The mic can be clipped to the top of a computer screen or mounted on a mic stand (using a supplied adapter or ordering a properly sized one from Samson). Yet with its heavy base plus the flexible, tilting mic, it can be placed on a flat surface–much like the Snowflake, but with greater stability and without any intrusive cable. (The Snowflake tends to “flop around,” requiring some balancing of the device by the user.)

My biggest disappointment thus far is that the clip, as alluded to by another reviewer, does not open far enough for attachment to a desk-top computer (it should be an ideal fit with most notebook machines). Although the Snowflake doesn’t use a spring clip, it suffers from the same limitation. If you’re especially concerned about durability, the Snowflake appears to be the heavier, more rugged mic, with thick metal and no tiny switches or spring clips to wear out. The Samson is the more delicate and refined of the two. But don’t kid yourself. Either mic will exceed the capabilities of your computer’s built-in mic and perhaps the owner’s expectations. On the other hand, neither is a match for the Shure SM7B that I’m accustomed to using at a local broadcasting studio. Still, Samson would appear to have a winner with this little wonder, whether it’s used in conjunction with a computer to record full-frequencied music or “realistic”-sounding narration.

4 Stars Small, cute, pretty good
I just received the Samson Go Mic today. First impressions:

1. beautiful packaging (very Apple-like)

2. Awfully cute, small condenser mic

3. Sound quality is remarkably good

I tested the mic and was surprised at how clean it sounded. Lacks some bass unless you’re right up on it, but is perfect for on-the-road podcasting, on-line meetings or webinasrs.

Con:

Only one, the clip is really meant for a thin laptop screen and not a regular monitor. So that limits the usefulness to remote uses.

For the price, it’s one of these gotta have toys that’s actually a real mic. Good job Samson!

5 Stars Exactly what I was looking for.
This little mic is great! The sound that comes out of it is unbelievable, crystal clear at all times. It does not record my rather noisy computer fan or anything else in the room. I wanted something that could be used for music, and was initially a little worried about getting this due to its size. Well, that does not matter in the slightest. You’d think you were singing into something much more expensive. Go Mic really does get the job done, I must say, very powerful.

I found that the omni-directional setting works best when recording a song, (for those that are thinking of purchasing it for musical purposes) as it captures both guitar and vocals, and one does not overpower the other. It clips onto my laptop a little awkwardly though and I’m always afraid it’ll fall, but it does stay on, it just leans forward just a bit. It is heavy enough to perch it on your desk without any problems. Either way it records beautifully, and for the price, you really can’t go wrong.

If you’ve only just started recording music, (and don’t know too much about mics) this one is a wonderful way to get started and get you motivated.

4 Stars Great Mic! My 1st Studio mic!
So happy to get my new mic it sound great but i have not rec with it so i give 4 star for the design, the sound, the price etc… so if u are look for a Studio mic that are around $80 THIS IS THE ONE!

5 Stars For the price this is it!
I have a couple other condensor mikes with shock mounts in the same price range, but this one is the best. Not sure you can do much better for anywhere near the price. I loaned one to a friend and he immediately returned his mike to the shop for one of these. Nice neutral sound, solid construction, I use it with a tube amp to get some non-linear compression for voice.

5 Stars Astonishing sound and value for well under 100 bucks!
I was especially fortunate and got a new one for around [...]

making this beautiful-sounding vocal mic

a spectacular bargain for the home-recording musician or audio-blogger.

I don’t know of any truly-decent large-diaphragm condensers with

the full 1″ diaphragm size for under [...] (don’t be a sucker for the

super-cheapies that look so big & cool). The AT2020 has a 2/3-inch diaphragm size, but

sounds better & bigger than anything else I have ever heard in the price range.

If you can spend [...]on a wonderful AT2035 or maybe a Studio Projects mic,

then by-all means, do it.

But the AT2020 [...]on all competition under [...], IMO.

I use it with the Studio Projects VTB1 Mic Preamp and the sound is B-I-G.

The AT2020 and the VTB1 are definitely a sweet pair together.

Although, I suspect any decent preamp used properly with the AT2020

would sound pretty darn good.

And DO use a preamp, even if only a $30 Art Tube MP.

Count on buying the 2 items together.

The pre will “send your AT2020 to the gym”, by giving it

a thicker, fuller, BETTER sound.

The thing to remember with preamps is to

try to get close to the *loudest possible clean sound*

coming out of the preamp and generate

a BIG signal going IN to the recording device, which should

have its input gain quite LOW (maybe like “2″ or even “1″).

Watch your clipping/overload levels,

listen for any audible noise or distortion in the recording,

and make adjustments to cut those sound flaws, if they are present.

For vocals,

Experiment with going as loud as you can from the preamp while still sounding CLEAN,

until you find you particular setup’s “sweet spot”.

“Straight-up” dial-settings is often around where you end up.

The AT2020, used with a decent pre like the one I have (there are many others),

should get you a serious studio vocal sound

with pro-quality clarity and little coloration.

IMO, it’s got to be the world champ of under-[...]studio Condenser Mics,

at least right now (in 2009),

until something more miraculous comes along.

And if you are presently recording vocals with

something like an SM58, moving up to the AT2020

with a modest preamp will absolutely blow your mind–Much “bigger” sounding,

with much finer detail, presence and clarity.

I hear this mic is good for miking electric guitar cabs

and various percussion too.

But voice is its forte, I believe.

It’s a gem.

5 Stars Great Value
Let’s face it…I’m just a hobby musician. A guy in his mid-30′s who has tinkered with music most of his adult life. I’ve played both as a solo artist and with bands. I’ve also been fortunate enough to spend time in actual recording studios with true professionals. None of this qualifies me as an expert…but I do have a certain level of familiarity on the subject.

I purchased this mic to supplement my home studio. I was hoping to get a little better sound than my usual stable of dynamic mics provide. I think I got pretty lucky with this purchase – it’s my understanding that in this particular price range, you shouldn’t expect a whole lot. I mean, it’s just a microphone, right?

What I will say is that I was certainly satisfied with my purchase. I’ve used this microphone in conjunction with a tube preamp on a handful of recordings with great success. I bought this with the intention of using it for vocals, but I’ve found that I actually prefer it to record my acoustic guitar – this microphone picks up all the sound that I’m looking for from my acoustic – it’s the nice, mellow, and full bodied sound that I hear when I’m playing, but that I was never able to capture before. In terms of its originally intended use, I felt is was only a slight improvement over the SM58 that I typically used for vocals – however, I wouldn’t put too much stock into my assessment, as vocals are not one of my strengths when it comes to music (let’s face it, autotune was created for a reason, right?)

Granted – everyone is going to have different opinions of this product, and I happen to think it works great for those of us on a budget. In terms of value – it is a great product for a fantastic price. I liked this microphone so much, I plan on buying at least one more.

4 Stars AT2020
This is a wonderful microphone. I use it to record interviews in the field instead of a shotgun set up. It is more hassle to use because it requires phantom power. But it provides a clean, clear, warm voice print.

I also plan to use it to record my children’s musical performances here at home. So for home concerts and for my field work, this mic works for me.

4 Stars 2nd one works great
First Mic arrived d.o.a. in a well packaged, undamaged box. Amazon customer service was simply awsome. UPS came to my house and picked up defective one the very next day, and the replacement arrived 2 days later. The at2020 looks and works great and amazon is great too Looking for a high quality mic that looks great on your desk? This is a good choice.

5 Stars Worth every dollar plus more!!!
I got my mic the other day and decided to lay some bars down. This was my first mic that i have bought and i must say that i beleive i picked the best one!! easy plug and play picks every up perfect. it is way more than i expected. all im wating for now is my pop filter and my stand. this microphone is worth the money people. do not think about it just get it. you will not regret it. i would reccomend this to anyone.

5 Stars Unbeatable Mic At An Unbeatable Price
This here is truly one of those hidden gem type products that you just don’t really get to appreciate unless you have one for yourself. This is a great investment for anyone looking to do ANY type of recording on the casual level, vocals in particular. But why buy, you might ask?

1) This mic is USB powered. This is pretty much the prime reason that this is the perfect mic for the casual/beginning level user. If you were to buy a regular condenseor mic, or even the regular version of the AT Condenser Mic, you would have to have additional equiptment to power it. For those who, like me, know very little about audio equipment, you would end up paying for far more then you originally expected to spend and most likely been all kinds of confused about how to use it. Being USB powered is truely a God-sent, because all you need to do to make it work is plug it in. Theres no program to load, no instructions to follow, and best of all no sweat to break. As soon as you plug it in, the computer acknowledges it just like any other UBS device and you go on with your buesiness. You dont even need to sit and “safely” eject the thing, just yank it out and your done. No damage done to you computer or your mic. Best of all, the UBS cord is pretty standard, so you can easily replace it if the one that comes with it gets damaged.

2) The price. A lot of professional level condenser mics are pretty expensive, like around three hundred dollars at the cheapest level. Granted, that’s a somewhat random number, but again, for the casual user, that’s not exactly wallet friendly. I got mine in a music store for one fifty. I wish I had looked online for one a little cheaper, but it was still a wise investment. Thus far I haven’t seen another mic this good for this cheap.

3) Durability. If you have any experience with audio equipment, mics in particular, you know that you need to be gentle with it when handling. I got my mic a good year and a half ago, and it’s traveled with me a lot, sometimes in less gentle conditions then I would like. Its been bumped, dropped, and even sat on, yet it still runs strong. The only fragile thing this thing has on it is the legs that prop it up.

4) Sound Quality. Ok I lied, THIS is the best reason to get this mic. I started out doing vocals with a regular stage mic and one thing I can honestly say is that the quality was absolutely terrible. It was grainy, smothered, and I had to almost whisper to make sure my levels didn’t peak while recording. The purpose of a condenser mic is to pretty much rectify all that. This one does it over and over again. My recordings come out crisp and professional sounding, and thus far, no one has been able to tell that I did all the recording my my basement with nothing but the mic, my laptop, and some quite time.

So if you looking for great quality for a affordable price, look no further then

Audio Technica AT2020USB. I have yet to find something I don’t like about this thing. I am a very satisfied customer, and I can almost guarantee you will be too if you decide to get one too.

Peace

4 Stars Great value for the money
I wanted a USB microphone to use for amateur home voice recording via my computer. After some research, I decided on this Audio Technica product. I’m glad I did!

The mic and stand comes well-packaged, is easy to assemble and is truly plug-and-play. In less than 10 minutes, I set it up, plugged it in, fired up audacity software and performed a test recording. It sounded great with no tweaking required.

In later use, I noticed a problem with popping P’s, so I picked up a cheap pop filter from a local shop. Now my Audio Technica AT2020USB mic works even better.

4 Stars Great mic, poor mic mount
I bought this microphone to make PowerPoint narrations and software demos with Camtasia. The performance of the mic is excellent I don’t have a lot of other mics to compare it to, but I did compare it to the Sure SM58 and the AT2020 had a much warmer, fuller sound. It also picked up a lot more room noise, so make sure you have a nice quiet place to record.

USB compatibility: PowerPoint 2007 does not recognize this microphone, but Camtasia does (and of course, Audacity). PowerPoint will record with it, but you can’t set your levels, so it’s a pain (I know none of you are going to record in PowerPoint, but I am frustrated with the spotty USB mic support in it and I just want to let people know). Did not have to install any drivers on my XP box.

The only flaw is the microphone mount that it comes with. You can’t tighten it enough, so the mic can rattle around in the mount. This is also true for the Samson SP01 Shockmount that I bought to use it with. So, you might need to get a spacer (another reviewer suggested a garden hose gasket).

4 Stars great product for the money
This is a inexpensive product. But it does well, has a nice sound, gets out well

I think its a good choice for the money. As long as your looking for something for a church, or just to speak in front of a small group (about 75) this will serve you well, if your looking for a good product, but not looking for a professional

product.

2 Stars mic
this mic in not very good I hooked it to my amp and it will only play on one channel and the valume does not go to top volume with the mic hooked to system so I would not say that it is worth the cost

1 Star A microphone that has no sound
Aside from being cheaply built (forgiveable given the price), the system simply does not work. No matter how close we put the mircophones to the base, no sound. If we muffled the microphone with our hands and yelled, you could hear something through the stereo after it had been turned up to full blast. Of course, you could hear the yelling itself equally well. Taking it back to the store.

2 Stars so so… ok
It is what it says, 2 wireless “karaoke” mics, work well for that matter, don’t expect more from them.

1 Star …..huh
I bought this set maybe a year ago. I’m kinda late getting to my review, but the set is kind of crap. The mics would produce terrible static and could get more than ten feet from the receiver with out an issue. Waste of my money.

The models in the Starpower Series represent today’s excellent cutting edge in price/performance value for vocal and instrument dynamic microphones. All of the models offer high-quality rugged construction and excellent reliability, and superior performance to that of some of the best known, most popular classic microphones – and at a fraction of their cost.Linear full-range response with crisp mid-range presence for optimal clarity and punch makes the SP-4C a perfect all-purpose, versatile stage and recording mic. Rugged, all-metal construction for maximum reliability – featuring a zinc die-cast case and steel mesh windscreen with anti-dent ring. Powerful neodymium mic element for highest output without noise – cuts through even the loudest sound pressure level situations without compromising sound. Ultra-light aluminum humbucking voice coil and transformerless design provide noise-free, accurate reproduction across the audio spectrum without distortion. Tight cardioid polar pattern provides excellent off-axis rejection for superior gain before feedback. Advanced multi-axis rubber shockmount for element minimizes handling noise. External on-off switch for easy control of audio from stage. Cable included.

5 Stars Spectacular
This product worked wonderful for me and my dreams of being a singer. I was not expecting much for the price but over all it went way over my expectaions. This is a GREAT buy for all you singers!

4 Stars Good
The mikes are fine but one of the XLR cable didn’t work. I had to change it.

5 Stars great seller
i am impressed with this mic—i thought for the price i paid,it wouldn’t work good but i was wrong—ty so much

4 Stars Get more than what you pay for
I bought two of these a little while ago and im very satisfied by them, i bought them for my band that just started up and we were low on funds so i just got a few cheap mics. they work very well even when plugged into a Guitar amp…which i had to use for awhile. the sound quality is very clear in a recording interface which is a nice thing, high frequency, good quality, and built to last (as it would seem).

I would say it would be a great buy for begginers of bands and the such.

5 Stars Just Perfect
This microphone is just perfect for the keyboard we got for our Grand-daughter…It was a great buy and saved me time running around elsewhere….The delivery was fast and the microphone was packed very securely….I am happy I found it on Amazon…..

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Clear Sounding mic
I like this mic. I think it is ideal for using with almost anything after just messing around with it for five minutes. I recorded my brothers violin and voice and it sounded a lot better than the regular ipod nano 4th generation video camera mic. It was even better than my dads canon XL microphone. WOW. It was very clear sounding although it has a very soft and quiet speaker, I suggest using headphones to listen to your recordings. The connection was firm and wasn’t lose like some have said.

Its definitely a cd quality mic but I think the way you record matters a lot more than getting a more expensive mic. It doesn’t sound professional like a David Cook cd where everything sounds like a concert or you are right there hearing it. If you want to record something professional I would go to a studio because a professional sound takes professional engineer, recording equipment and professional work. That is what my brother says who is a recording engineer {his degree}. I hope this helps.

4 Stars Great for Lectures, Podcast Quality
I teach college classes and use the Mikey to record my lectures. (Ultimately, these lectures end up as podcasts.) To record, I simply connect the Mikey to my iPhone 3G in Airplane Mode (to avoid any radio interference and to silence my phone so that it doesn’t ring or ding during class). For best results, I set the switch to the single-wave position and try to speak no more than six feet away from the Mikey. But even if I move to the other side of the room, the Mikey still picks me up at a good volume.

Before publishing them, I use Freeverse’s Sound Studio for Mac to compress the difference between the quiet and loud portions of the recording. You can use any similar software that has a dynamics compressor filter.

I used to use a Blue Snowball and a MacBook to record each lecture. The quality for that, especially when you set it to the omnidirectional mode, was terrific, but I hated carrying all that extra weight in my bag, since I often bike to class. Using this with an iPhone or iPod makes for a great portable and inconspicuous solution to recording lectures.

5 Stars Great portable mic solution for the iPod
I have used this device in a number of recording situations. It’s never let me down. Another solid product from Blue.

5 Stars AMAZING!
This mic is truly high fidelity. I’ve used it in several situations and the sound is clear and strong. Couple this with the free fIRE app for the iPhone and you have a full fledged recording device. The customer service is FANTASTIC. They have bent over backwards to help me with my novice questions. This is the best solution if you need high quality recordings on your iPhone or iTouch.

5 Stars Works great with the IPod Touch 3rd Generation!
I’ve had this mike for a short time, but already I’ve been impressed with its capabilities. As a professional musician (cellist), the ability to bring music into the IPod Touch is of paramount importance to me, and with this device I am easily able to do so. Just today I recorded the Hallelujah Chorus with a very large pipe organ cleanly at the middle sensitivity setting. I also use it for tuning and with the large Ipod display my students think it’s very cool to tune to. I use a silicon cover and have no trouble inserting the mike into my IPod, the blue light lets me know I’m attached well. For the about $50 that Amazon charges, one is able to have a very capable field recorder, and doing it on the IPod Touch makes one the envy of both young and old.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Ok for the price
This mic was purchased to be used in a classroom environment with teenage kids, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. The mic seems well constructed and sturdy. The sound recorded with it is ok. It is better than the sound off the camera mic, and doesn’t pick up near as much motor noise and handling noise as the camera mic did. The one negative to the mic is the lack of a power indicator. I think a simple LED would remind people to turn the mic off after use. Other than that, this is a decent mic, and good bang for the buck.

2 Stars meh
The product failed to state which cameras it was compatible with. Sure I can plug it in. But when I need to use it I always have to rest it in an odd position. The difference between this mic and the camera one is barely noticeable. For the price I may be a little hard on it.

5 Stars Great sound quality
Bought this for my Canon Vixia HV30. It sounds so much better than the built in mic. Gets rid of the camera hum and noise from handling the camera so well. It also has a greater range than the built in mic so you won’t miss out on conversations. For the price this was a must have item for my HV30 and a smart buy.

4 Stars Great little gizmo
I purchased this mic mostly for video recording my two sons rock band during performances. The differences between the built in mic condenser mic and the Azden boom mic are like night and day.

The only thing I can say bad about this mic is that the little on off switch is so small and there is no indicator light to remind you to turn it on or off before each use. Causing me to drain a battery or two without realizing my mistake. Or not having sound on a few test videos.

Even close up, I did not hear any popping or distortion on playback.

Other than those couple of small annoyances mentioned, this is a great little mic.

4 Stars It does the job
To make it short, I’ve have attached it to my Canon 5D Mark II and still picks up the inner noise sounds from the moving parts, the mic still works even if I turned it off!!.

The build quality is good and it is very light and short in length around 20cm. Sound quality is away better than the built-in mono mic. Its a little bit expensive.

5 Stars Great value for the price. Good quality microphone
I was a little apprehensive trying this one out because of my terrible experience with GPX – CD+G Karaoke System (JM258)that I got from Best Buy. However, it was all put to rest when I turned this machine on. The sound is far superior, and more importantly, the microphone quality is very commendable. This may be too basic for serious karaoke buffs, but for general folks like us and kids this model fits the bill perfectly. I was able to connect my MP3 player to the machine through the provided cable and it works. So, one can get around the limited number of songs available on a CDG if you transfer them to an iPOD or MP3 player. However, you will not be able to get the lyrics on the screen if you do that, that’s the trade-off.

We are really enjoying it almost everyday. I wish they had pitch control for the CD as well (it’s only for playing the cassette).

5 Stars Singing Machine
This Machine is great!!! My grandchildren have had a wonderful time with it. It is a little complicated to work but the kids work it fine!!! They love it!!! My grandchildren are 7 through 2.5. They are having the time of their life.

5 Stars Singing Machine Video Karaoke
Very satisfied. Have a daycare and the children just love it!! Easy to use for all ages. Great quality!!

5 Stars FUN AND EASY
Its a great way to interact with everyone in the family. The karaoke machine it self is great and super cheap price!

The one thing is that u might need to buy many karaoke cd’s to have a good selection of songs.

4 Stars Big and heavy, but lots of fun!
I bought the Singing Machine for my 6 year old daughter. She really enjoys it, although she doesn’t play with it quite as much as I hoped. It is such a big and heavy system, that she can’t move it around. It stays parked on the living room floor. Still, it works well and everyone in the family has enjoyed a turn with it.
